PFMS (Public Financial Management System)

A web-based online software/ application developed and implemented by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India for payment, accounting, and reconciliation of Government transactions. It also integrates various existing standalone systems. The prime objective of PFMS is to track your funds released in all the Plan schemes under the Government of India. It reports expenditures at all levels of Programme implementation in real-time.

Vasai Vikas Sahakari Bank offers PFMS to efficiently monitor schemes and programs operated by central government and state governments.

Special Features

1. PFMS has established a simple transaction-based online fund management & payment system as well as a Management Information System (MIS) for schemes of the Government of India.

2. The web service-based integration between PFMS and banks aims to provide measures and procedures for efficient data processing and analysis from registered accounts.

3. The validation and verification process will evaluate credentials such as account number, IFSC code, account holder's name, and so on.

4. The procedure will ensure that electronic payments are made to authenticated accounts and will eliminate cases of fraud.

5. Previously, the government would pay for acquired services with SBI bank cheques. To obtain records of such transactions and to provide direct benefit to customers, the government established the PFMS Portal, through which funds are transferred in DBT mode (Direct Benefit Transfer).

6. Any service provider who provides government services must create an account on the PFMS portal. It enables the government to keep a database and track transactions.

7. Bank Role – The government has mandated that any agency that wishes to register in the PFMS portal open an account with any of their registered banks so that funds can be transferred easily and quickly. Banks only need to make this service available to their account holders via web service to meet this requirement.
